Year 2007, Pesto pasta was first introduced to me when a friend invited me to Pizza Volante in Baguio. That's when I asked which one is their best seller, I was told it's their Pesto Pasta.
Fast forward to 2020, the whole Luzon island is put on enhanced community quarantine brought by the development of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in the country. Meaning, everyone's encouraged to stay at home from March 17 to April 30. This is the government's security measures to contain the spread of the corona virus.
For introverted people like me, we're not complaining about this Stay-at-Home policy. Although I understand other people's sentiments because a lot of us have to work just so we can provide for our family's day to day needs.
Anyway, this too shall pass sabi nga nila! We're halfway through the quarantine period. We Pinoys are known to be very resilient in times like this and we can even make a good laugh out of the problems we encounter. Kaya natin 'to mga besh! Push pa more!
(Ang haba ng intro kyeme mga cyst!)
Since Team Bahay tayo during this time, for sure bagot na bagot na ang ilan sa atin. That's why I'm sharing with you, my lovelies, my simple take on this Creamy Tuna Pesto Pasta, a recipe which you might want to try while enjoying the comfort of our homes. And it's also a good recipe for the holy week. No meat diet tayo mga besh!
Not a lot of people likes the taste of pesto. But in our house, kahit ano ata kinakain. This one's a very simple and healthy recipe. Enjoy and stay safe and healthy mga besh!
All you need are the following ingredients:
- Two cans Century Tuna (I like the spicy flavor for a little zing!), drain
- 1 bottle 190g Filippo Berio Classic Pesto (I usually buy pesto with cheese in tetra pack but it's not available at the grocery store)
- 1 can button mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- 1 medium sized onion
- 500g curly pasta (I have no idea about its name. but you can use spaghetti pasta if you want), cooked according to package direction
- 1 pack Nestle all Purpose cream
- Cheese
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Procedure:
- Saute garlic and onion in butter and olive oil.
- Add in Century tuna.
- Add in Classic Pesto. Stir.
- Add the mushrooms.
- Pour the all-purpose cream in the mixture. This is what makes the recipe super creamy!
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat for 2-3 minutes more before adding in the pasta.
- Top with cheese before serving. (You can even add sliced hard boiled eggs on the side just like what my father use to do.)
That's it guys! Enjoy your Creamy Pesto Pasta!
